Worms are slimy creatures;
They gently and softly
dig their prey
through dirt holes
with earthly ways.
-Alicia Robinson
Grade 5
'A Day in the Woods' was a ten-month project at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Environmental Education Center, led by 2007-08 Writer in Residence, Jessica Jones. Each week Jones worked with thirty students in one-hour workshops, during which students heard, discussed, and wrote nature poetry. After taking notes outside, students shaped their observations of the landscape into short poems that they then read aloud for constructive criticism and group recognition. Great job Alicia! That is too cool to see your poem posted on the net. Daddy and I are so proud of you! Worms...gotta love em'!
You know, worms taste like crunchy bacon...
Congrats Alicia and trust me, you don't want to ever taste a worm.
